I recently came on with Delaware’s Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs and one of my tasks is to revive the Johnson Victrola Museum in Dover. There are high hopes for an innovative digitized approach to our collections here, particularly with the massive music library that we have to work with. I would be interesting in coming up with some directions to take in digitizing this media and finding the proper “apps” with which to present it to the public.

I have several logistical questions regarding to digitization of collections: What’s the best/most secure way to store this data? What are the current legal standards with regards to copyright and permissions? How do we protect our collections and our own rights when we post them online?

Just some thoughts.

It was great meeting you in Dover last month at the DHF grant writing program. I look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
